Boys basketball

Ida Baker 83, Gateway Charter 77: The Bulldogs (6-3) won their fifth game in a row, handing the Griffins their ninth defeat (6-9). Tyger Chandler had a double-double for the Bulldogs with 19 points and 14 rebounds. Also for the Bulldogs, Ishmael Hajmoussa had 12 points and 8 rebounds, and Devyn Bradwell and Bo Summersett added 12 points each. Ida Baker will take a few days off before back-to-back road games at Immokalee on Thursday and North Fort Myers on Friday.

Girls basketball

Bishop Verot 35, Seacrest Country Day 29: The Vikings (4-14) snapped a four-game losing streak, toppling a 9-2 Seacrest squad. On Tuesday, Bishop Verot is home to face Lely.

Boys soccer

Gulf Coast 2, Mariner 1 (4-2 PK): Gulf Coast (11-1-2) won the third-place match of the Tampa Bay Invitational on penalty kicks. Sean Paul Negron’s goal on Santi Guerrero’s assist had drawn the Tritons (11-3-2) even in regulation. Guerrero and Maercello Alfonso scored Mariner’s penalty kicks. After a first-round 2-0 loss Thursday to Mitchell, Mariner defeated Tampa Prep 4-3 on Friday. The Tritons play Tuesday at Naples.

Boys basketball

Ida Baker 78, Immokalee 66: Bo Summersett scored 27 points to pace the Bulldogs (4-3), and Devin Bradwell, Ishmael Hajmussa and Kenny Petit had 10 points each. A Saturday matinee game at Gateway Charter awaits Ida Baker.

Cape Coral 42, North Fort Myers 41: Visiting Cape Coral (4-7) pulled out the win with a 15-12 fourth quarter to edge the Red Knights (2-9). North plays Monday at Cypress Lake, while the Seahawks travel to SW Florida Christian on Tuesday,

Island Coast 61, Oasis 42: The Gators (3-7) rolled to a win at Oasis (1-10). The Sharks will try to rebound Monday at home against Bonita Springs. Island Coast travels to play Bonita’s Bull Sharks on Tuesday.

First Baptist Academy 57, Bishop Verot 30: Jonah Schwartz and Carson Beisner scored 10 each for the Vikings (7-5) in a loss to 11-2 First Baptist.  Bishop Verot will seek to rebound Monday at North Port.

Girls basketball

Cape Coral 55, North Fort Myers 15: An up-and-down week for the Seahawks (12-5) ended with an emphatic “up” on Friday. The Red Knights (1-5) are home with Dunbar on Monday. Cape travels to Desoto County on Monday.

Oasis 41, Island Coast 36: The Sharks (3-9) snapped a five-game skid, dropping the Gators to 3-8. Oasis is home with Cypress Lake on Tuesday, and Island Coast is home with Bonita Springs the same evening.

Girls soccer

Island Coast 4, Immokalee 0: Friday’s shutout gave the Gators a 3-7 mark heading into a Tuesday match at Bonita Springs. Immokalee remained winless (0-10-1).

North Port 8, Ida Baker 0: North Port (8-4) got hat tricks from Sierra Spirk and Aleena Purvis in dropping the Bulldogs to 3-7. Ida Baker takes on Bonita Springs at home Monday.

Bishop Verot 1, Tampa Catholic 1 (tie): The Vikings (4-2-2) played to a draw with a Tampa Catholic (5-3-2) side ranked fifth in the state in Class 3A by MaxPreps. Bishop Verot is home Tuesday against Cape Coral.

North Fort Myers 2, Braden River 1: Michelle Horan had a goal and an assist, Evie McCarthy a goal and Sophia Kerns an assist as the Red Knights (10-1-2) won at Braden River (9-5). Aliyah Morgan, a sophomore, held Braden River to a single goal. North Fort Myers plays Tuesday at North Port.
