Cape Coral 63, Gateway Charter 61: The new year got off to a good start for the Seahawks (3-5), who got past the host Griffins (3-8). Leading by 18 at the half, Cape held on in the face of a fierce Gateway Charter rally. Cape Coral plays Tuesday at Ida Baker.

Canterbury 89, Mariner 49: The Cougars (5-5) burned the nets for 21 3-pointers, roaring out to a 44-1 lead over the Tritons (7-3).  lan Cedeno had 29 points (seven 3-pointers) and Justin Heinrich 23 for Canterbury. Mariner is home Monday looking to rebound against Lakewood Ranch.

Bishop Verot 65, Gulf Coast 45: The year ended on a high note for the Vikings (5-3), as Lucas Tejera and Marcos Tejera scored 17 points each.  Andreas Mantz added 13 points for Bishop Verot, which is home Monday against North Fort Myers.  Gulf Coast dropped to 1-7.
