Cape Coral 46, Marco Island Academy 45: The Seahawks picked up their 10th win before Christmas (10-4), edging Marco Island (4-1).  Cape’s next game is Jan. 5 at home versus Ida Baker.

Dunbar 67, Bishop Verot 27: Verot (3-11) had a tough go against an undefeated (12-0) Dunbar Tigers squad in the ECS Holiday Tournament.  The Vikings have another game at 3 p.m. Wednesday, facing Bishop Verot.

Boys basketball

Marco Island Academy 62, Cape Coral 59: The MIA Rays (5-1) downed the Seahawks (2-5) in Cape’s final 2020 game.  Gateway Charter will host Cape Coral on Jan. 2.

Bishop Verot 70, LaBelle 28: Jonah Schwartz scored 15 pints and Andreas Mantz 12 for the Vikings (4-3), who had 10 players score in the game.  

Girls soccer

Mariner 1, Land O’ Lakes 1 (tie): Two of the state’s elite teams played to a draw.  Mariner (9-2-1) is the first team Land O’ Lakes (8-0-1) has not defeated this season. The Tritons play Lithia Newsome at 1 p.m. Wednesday.
