Boys soccer

Mariner 2, Immokalee 2 (tie): The Indians (5-5-2) surprised the Tritons (10-1-1), taking a 2-1 lead before Mariner earned a draw when Nicco Gerke deflected a Santiago Guerrero pass into the net in the second half. Guerrero had given Mariner a 1-0 lead on a goal assisted by Sean Paul Negron. Mariner will return from the holiday break January 5 at Canterbury.

Girls soccer

Plant City Durant 1, Mariner 0: The Tritons (9-2), MaxPreps’s top-rated Class 4A team in Florida, fell at home to the visitors from Plant City (5-2-1). Mariner begins play Tuesday in the Tampa Bay Invitational.

Girls basketball

Bishop Verot 38, First Baptist Academy 31: Abby Powell scored 12 points to lead the Vikings (3-10) to win in the first round of Sentinel Holiday Classic at Evangelical Christian School.  Next up is a game with undefeated Dunbar (11-0) at 6 p.m. Tuesday.
