Cape Coral 44, Island Coast 36: The Seahawks advance to 7-2, 2-1 in District 5A-11 with the road win. The Gators are 0-5, 0-2. While Cape is home to face Fort Myers on Tuesday and Island Coast is home with North Fort Myers.
Ida Baker 59, Cypress Lake 24: Nicole Bono scored 18 points to lead the Bulldogs. Pricilla Mandonado scored 15 and had 6 assists, and Kynlee Price scored 11. Twins Makayla and Julianna Nieves combined for 16 rebounds. Evening their overall record at 3-3, the Bulldogs are 3-1 in District 5A-11. Next up is Tuesday’s home game with South Fort Myers.
Imagine School North Port 49, Oasis 23: The Sharks are 1-4 after taking a road loss against 2-0 Imagine. Oasis is home Tuesday to take on Southwest Florida Christian.
Boys basketball
Mariner 81, Gulf Coast 53: Monday’s win lifted the Tritons to 4-1 on the season. Mariner plays at Cypress Lake on Tuesday. Next for Island Coast is a home match Thursday with Ida Baker.
Cape Coral 56, Island Coast 39: The District 5A-11 opener for the Seahawks (2-1, 1-1) was a rousing success, while the Gators slipped to 1-2, 0-2. Cape travels to Fort Myers on Tuesday, while Island Coast has South Fort Myers at home on Friday.
Boys soccer
Cape Coral 3, Island Coast 1: Diego Alvarez and Austin Ferguson had a goal and an assist each, and Adriel Gomez also scored for the Seahawks. Preston Allen had six saves in goal. Cape (6-1-1, 3-0 in District 5A-11) left Island Coast with a 3-2-2, 0-1 mark. Lely visits Cape Coral on Tuesday.
