Girls basketball

Cape Coral 64, Clewiston 23: Sierra Moore led the way with 29 points, 11 rebounds and 6 assists as the Seahawks made it 2-0 to begin the season.  Verily Pacheco scored 11 points and Kylah Babernitch added 10. Cape’s next game is today against North Port.

Tuesday

Girls basketball

Cape Coral 56, East Lee 5: Sierra Moore scored 20 points and Lailah Milby 10 as the Seahawks won their season opener in a runaway. 

Golden Gate 67, Oasis 37: A sluggish first half left the Sharks unable to catch up to Golden Gate in the season opener.  Oasis was home against Lemon Bay on Thursday and at Bonita Springs on Friday.

Evangelical Christian 54, Ida Baker 37. For the Bulldogs (0-1), Priscilla Maldonago scored 14 points and had two rebounds, Nicole Bono had 11 points and rebounds, and Kynlee Prince had eight points and six boards.

Seacrest 55, Bishop Verot 39: The Stingrays pulled away from a 21-all tie with the Vikings at halftime.

Boys soccer

Mariner 3, Lely 1: Sean Paul Negron scored twice, giving him three goals in two matches, and Isaac Sandoval also found the back of the net. Nicco Gerke (Ramirez) contributed an assist. Goalkeeper Jacob Glover made four saves for the victory.  Mariner is off to a 3-0 start to the season.

Ida Baker 2, South Fort Myers 0: Ida Baker earned its first win with a District 5A-11 shutout of the Wolfpack.

Gulf Coast 3, Bishop Verot 1: The Vikings are off to an 0-2-1 start heading into Thursday’s home match with Canterbury.

Cape Coral 8, North Fort Myers 0: Joel Garcia had three goals and two assists for Cape Coral.  Joao Soares also scored twice as the Seahawks (3-1, 10 District 5A-11) rolled past North Fort Myers (0-3, 0-1).

Canterbury 5, Oasis 1: Oasis (0-1-2) is home against First Baptist on Friday.

Girls soccer

North Fort Myers 8, Cape Coral 0: Michelle Horan had a huge night with three goals and three assists for the Red Knights (3-0, 1-0 District 5A-11).  Evie McCarthy and Emily Guzman had a goal and an assist each, Alexa Lara, Sophia Kerns, Kinsey Dold and Carter each scored a goal, Alexandra Spiller made two assists and Alexa Lara added an assist.  On Thursday, Cape Coral (1-1, 0-1) was home with Evangelical Christian and North played host to Community School of Naples.

Ida Baker 8, South Fort Myers 0: Ida Baker (3-1) dropped South Fort Myers to 0-3.  The Bulldogs were home against Cypress Lake on Thursday.

Bishop Verot 2, Gulf Coast 1: The Vikings are off to a 2-0 start after Tuesday’s home victory against Lely (1-1-1).

Mariner 6, Lely 1: Six different Tritons accounted for the team’s six goals against Lely. Cameron Fallarcara opened the scoring on an assist by Brooke Yount. Ryleigh Acosta nailed a free kick, and Gloria Quintanilla made it 3-0 Mariner at the half.  In the second half, Ari McIntyre scored on a Quintanilla assist, Maria Parker’s cross-goal pass set up Eva Ramirez, and Asia Alexander found the back of the net with an assist from Acosta.  Mariner was home with LaBelle on Thursday.
