Football

North Fort Myers 17, Dunbar 0: In a matchup of unbeatens, the Red Knights’ defense was dominant.  The Red Knights (5-0) blanked the 3-1 Tigers on their home field. Brett Reed scored on a 2-year run in the first quarter, and Rudy Mack ran one in from 2 yards out in the second quarter. Brandon Bush added the only second-half points on a 31-yard field goal.

Ida Baker 42, Bonita Springs 6: The Bulldogs scored the last 36 points, pulling away to their third win (3-2) of the year. Adrian Paras got Ida Baker (3-2) going with a pair of first-quarter touchdown runs of 5 and 15 yards. In the second quarter, Kaleb Staples raced 45 yards and Zach Malpica scored from 6 yards out. Levontai Summersett had an 11-yard TD run in the third, and Daniel Newsom picked off a Bull Sharks (3-2) pass and took it back 55 yards for the game’s final score.

South Fort Myers 21, Island Coast 14: The Gators (3-2) led until the final play of the first half, but were shut out after intermission. Gabe Fisher hit two touchdown passes in the first half, connecting for 42 yards and a score from Jason Joseph, then a 38-yard scoring pass to Mike Jones. Jermaine Wilson’s interception return for a TD gave South Fort Myers (3-2) the win.

Estero 21, Cape Coral 17: The Seahawks came so close to their first win of the year, but Estero (1-3) scored with just 14 seconds remaining to drop Cape Coral to 0-5. Jabie Roy scored on a 3-yard run in the first quarter. Damian Miranda’s 10-yard run with 5:17 to go had the Seahawks up 17-14.  Colin Hatton kicked a 25-yard field goal late in the third quarter.

Mariner 41, East Lee County 0: Junior Jacob Manning was a two-way threat for the Tritons, rushing for more than 100 yards and intercepting two Jaguars passes. Seniors Mack Kosekle and Keishon Key each ran for two Mariner (1-4) touchdowns.  Along with Manning’s two picks, senior Nick Longo forced a fumble, recovered a fumble and had two sacks as the Triton defense blanked East Lee County (0-5).

St. John Neumann 49, Oasis 7: The Sharks slipped to 1-6 with a road loss to 3-2 St. John Neumann down in Naples.

Girls bowling 

Mariner 5, East Lee County 0: Lexie Gifford led the Tritons with a 182 game, followed by Krystina Gregory at 149, Regan Tucker 119,  and Alison McGrail Kaylyn Shaynak 118 each.

Boys bowling 

Mariner 5, East Lee County 0: Mariner’s Drew and Trent Gifford each rolled a 198. Ty VanBulk had a 181, Konner Gregory 186 and Matt Shafer 173.
