Seahawk girls basketball team falls at Bradenton Southeast
Region 5A-3 final
Bradenton Southeast 68, Cape Coral 46: Perryauna Youmans hit three 3-pointers in a row and Southeast (20-8) hit seven in the second period on their way to eliminating the Seahawks (20-9) Friday one game short of the Final Four. Sierra Moore scored 16 points and Savannah Lang 13 for Cape Coral. Southeast faces Plantation American Heritage in the Class 5A semifinals on Thursday.
Cape Coral 10, SW Florida Christian 0 (5 innings): Camryn Mauer drove in three runs for the Seahawks (2-1), Abby Gonzalez was 3-for-3 with two RBI and two runs scored and Avery Mytnik doubled twice and drove in two. Emily Schulz was 2-for-3 with two runs scored. Kirsten LaCombe struck out seven in five innings. Next up for Cape is a Wednesday game at Island Coast.
Ida Baker 33, Golden Gate 7 (3 innings): Adriana Pzrespolewski drove in eight runs, going 4-for-5 with a double and a triple, scoring five times. Victoria Torres was 4-for-5 with five RBI and scored four runs. Emma Fleming (4-for-4) scored five runs and drove in three as the Bulldogs (2-1) piled up 26 hits and 30 RBI.
Fort Myers 6, North Fort Myers 5: Fort Myers took a 6-0 lead, then held off a Red Knights comeback. Mackenzie Woods drove in two runs for North, going 2-for-3.
Key West 16, Bishop Verot 2: The Conchs won their season opener, dropping the Vikings to 0-2 to begin the year. Alexis Hollinger was 2-for-3 for Verot.
Fort Myers 15, North Fort Myers 0 (4 innings): Green Wave pitchers no-hit the Red Knights. North slipped to 1-2 to open the baseball campaign.
Cape Coral 12, Bonita Springs 2 (5 innings): The Seahawks (2-0) scored eight times in the bottom of the fourth to put the game away.
