Redd leads Verot over South Fort Myers, 66-34

Denzel Redd scored 27 points to power the Bishop Verot boys basketball team to a 66-34 win over South Fort Myers Wednesday.

The Vikings, now 4-1, are home against North Port on Friday.

Canterbury 9, North Fort Myers 1: Jasmine Perez had five goals and three assists for the Cougars (4-2), who dropped the Red Knights to 5-2-1 on the season.

Evangelical Christian 5, Oasis 2: The ECS Sentinels (5-1-1) took control in the second half to down the Sharks (5-2).

North Port 6, Mariner 0: The Tritons are 6-2 with Tuesday’s defeat.

Ida Baker 7, Cypress Lake 3: The Bulldogs improved to 6-2-2, 1-0 District 5A-11 with a win at Cypress Lake (2-4-1, 1-2),

Boys basketball

Mariner 75, Neumann 68: Dsean Achilles scored 22 points and Elijah Adams scored 20 as the Tritons won their second game in as many days. Mariner improved to 3-2 on the year.

Fort Myers 80, Cape Coral 39: Fort Myers (4-1) rolled past 1-3 Cape Coral.

Lehigh 54, Bishop Verot 44: The Vikings (3-1) suffered their first loss. Lehigh evened its record at 2-2.

Island Coast 56, North Fort Myers 51: The Gators earned their first win of the year (1-3), while keeping the Red Knights winless (0-4).

Gateway Charter 79, Oasis 33: The Griffins (2-2, 1-0 District 3A-8) dropped the Sharks to 0-4, 0-1. Oasis was coming off an emotional loss Monday against Mariner.

Girls basketball

Oasis 54, Gateway Charter 23: Isabella Mitchell had 14 points and 4 steals for the Sharks (5-4), and Hailey Figueroa scored 10 points.

Fort Myers 64, Cape Coral 35: Cape slipped to 5-3.

Boys soccer

Cape Coral 3, Lely 1: Juan Parra scored and made two assists, and Joao Soares and Diego Guararasma had goals. Dylan Linares and Joey Zakrewski combined for the win in goal. The Seahawks (9-1-1) will be home against archrival Mariner on Friday.

Canterbury 9, North Fort Myers 1: Unbeaten Canterbury (7-0) dropped the Red Knights to 1-9.

Cypress Lake 4, Ida Baker 2: Cypress (6-3, 4-0 District 5A-11) doubled up the Bulldogs (2-10-1, 0-1-1).

Evangelical Christian 2, Oasis 0: ECS (4-3-1) got the shutout win against the Sharks (1-6).

Cape Coral 9, Island Coast 0: The Seahawks (1-6, 1-1 District 5A-11) earned their first win of the season. Island Coast fell to 0-8, 0-4.
