McKay scores four goals in Tritons’ win
Mariner’s TJ McKay, who has been lighting up opponents’ nets during the first week of the season, outdid himself Friday night with four goals against Ida Baker in an 8-3 Tritons win. The four tallies gave McKay 12 goals in four games.
Leo Perez scored twice for the Tritons (4-0), and Matthew Gallego and Robert Quintanilla also scored. Quintanilla played half the match out on the pitch and half in Mariner’s goal.
For Ida Baker, Julio Amaral scored a pair of goals. Kevin Bruzon also scored, while Steve Barker had two assists and Camilo Caso added an assist.
Mariner’s next match is at home Monday against Cypress Lake. Baker (0-2) plays at Dunbar on Tuesday.

East Lee County 8, Oasis 1: No details available. The Sharks (1-2) play Monday at Imagine School in North Port.
Cape Coral 9, Lemon Bay 1: Nick Wlodarczyk and Evan Oben each scored twice and five other Cape Coral players scored. The Seahawks (2-0, 2-0 District 3A-13) jumped all over Lemon Bay early Thursday ,with Jeremy Jiminez, Danilo Gomez, Juan Parra, Mateo Castano, Wlodarczyk, Oben and Jeremy Jiminez all scoring in the first half. Cape’s Cameron Trinkle, Oben and Wlodarczyk found the net in the second half. Antonio Castro Garcia was in goal for the Seahawks. Cape Coral plays again Friday at Riverdale.
Mariner 5, South Fort Myers 1: DJ McKay scored three goals, his second hat trick of the young season, as the Tritons improved to 3-0. Esteban Orjuela and Pedro Reyes also scored, and Leo Perez had two assists. Robert Quintanilla had two saves in a scoreless first half, while Anthony Rodriguez ha a save and allowed one goal in the second half. The Tritons play Friday night at Ida Baker.
Barron Collier 1, North Fort Myers 0: Patrik Hamann of Barron Colier scored the only goal of the match. North (0-3) will be home Monday against Dunbar.
LaBelle 1, Oasis 0: The Sharks are 1-1, including 1-1 in District 2A-12, after a home loss to district foe LaBelle.
Fort Myers 2, Ida Baker 1: The Green Wave scored the game-winner on a penalty kick. Christian Lima scored for Ida Baker (0-1), while the defense was led by Jason Martinez, Taylor Jones, Cameron Semrick and James Wunderlin. The Bulldogs’ home opener is Friday against Mariner.

Cape Coral 2, Riverdale 0: Goaltender Blaire Dupuy posted another shutout for Cape Coral (4-0-1) and still hasn’t given up a goal this season. Kailee Kefer scored the Seahawks’ first goal on an assist by Kelsey Miskimins, and Jackie Kohlmeier had an unassisted goal. Cape Coral plays Monday at South Fort Myers.
Mariner 8, South Fort Myers 0: Taylor Yount scored four times and added an assist, giving her 11 goals in five games this season for the Tritons (3-1-1). Acyela Aydogmus posted her fourth consecutive shutout in net. Anyana Sanchez scored twice and had two assists, while Mariner also got goals from Cassidee Rentsch and Amanda Miller, and Sam Sanders had an assist. The Tritons are off until a home match against Cypress Lake on Monday. Mariner also picked up a 4-0 win in the JV game as Maria Parker scored twice and Jasslyn Chemelis had a shutout in goal.
Ida Baker 2, Fort Myers 1: Maddie Schmucker scored twice, both on assists by Haley Rounsifer, as Ida Baker downed the Green Wave. Jenna Payton had 12 saves in goal for the Bulldogs (2-0-2, 1-0-1 District 4A-12). Fort Myers fell to 2-1,0-1.
Cape Coral 4, Lemon Bay 0: Cape Coral scored four times in the first half to improve to 3-0-1, 2-0 in District 3A-13. Jackie Kohlmeier had a goal and an assist to lead the Seahawks. Cheyenne Young, Sarah Magin and Kailee Kefer also scored for Cape, and Kelsey Miskimins, Cami Trujillo and Ariauna Gonzalez added assists. Goaltender Blaire Dupuy (nine saves) has yet to give up a goal so far this season. The Seahawks are home against Riverdale on Friday.
Barron Collier 1, Bishop Verot 0: The Vikings fell on a goal by Adriana Pascotto. Bishop Verot’s next match is Tuesday at Gateway Charter.
