Gators still seek first season win
Fort Myers held off Island Coast 7-6 Thursday night, a game in which three Gators delivered two hits apiece.
Chase Chatman, Chris Odio and Forest Theune had the multiple hits for the Gators and Alex Perez contributed a double to the losing cause. Right-hander Julio Castro tossed four innings and allowed one earned run in taking the loss on the mound. The Gators (0-4) host Mariner on Friday.
Cardinal Mooney 5, Oasis 2: Stephen Siciliano gave up two earned runs on seven hits with two strikeouts over 4 1/2 innings Thursday in Oasis’ loss at Mooney.
Siciliano (0-1) had one of the Sharks’ two base hits and drove in a run. Nick Oliveira walked twice and scored two runs with one stolen base.
The Sharks (2-3) play Tuesday at Bishop Verot.
Softball
Fort Myers 11, Ida Baker 1: Baker took a beating Thursday night in a loss at Fort Myers.
Eliza Cross homered to deliver the Bulldogs’ lone run. The Bulldogs (2-5) host Oasis Friday.
