Miracle host major events
The Fort Myers Miracle are making final preparations for two big weekend events in the coming month.
They will start off by hosting the Florida State League All-Star Game on June 18. It’s the fifth time the Miracle have hosted the mid-summer classic at Hammond Stadium.
“We are thrilled to show off this state-of-the art facility after the renovations and upgrades that have improved the fan experience the last two seasons,” said Miracle Chief Operating Officer Steve Gliner. “This event will be a great opportunity not just for local fans, but also for guests from around Florida and the United States to come and experience Fort Myers, Hammond Stadium and the beautiful Southwest Florida region.”
The All-Star Game features two teams comprised of players from the South and North Divisions. A Home Run Derby precedes the All-Star Game on June 18 and a fireworks show follows the final out.
A special All-Star Weekend event is planned for the evening on June 17.
A couple of weeks later, fans can celebrate Independence Day with the Miracle at Hammond Stadium on Sunday, July 3. The perfect recipe for patriotism includes delicious fried and specialty foods, fireworks and baseball.
The Miracle will unleash a spectacular red, white and blue fireworks display in the Southwest Florida sky after their 6:05 p.m. game with the Jupiter Hammerheads.
Fans are invited to gear-up for a hassle-free celebration with controlled parking, clean restrooms, a comfortable seat, delicious ballpark food and plenty of ice cold beer. Gates open at 4:30 p.m. and parking is just $4 per vehicle.
“There are many fireworks in the summer that are just a quick flash in the sky,” said Miracle General Manager Andrew Seymour. “At Hammond Stadium, we’ve got entertainment on the field, between innings and, of course, the pyrotechnics once the game is over. We’ll do the cooking, the cleaning and provide every convenience for our fans.”
The Miracle (26-26) started Thursday’s play two games behind Bradenton in the Florida State League’s South Division standings. They open a four-game homestand Friday with the Daytona Tortugas (24-30).
Wednesday’s scheduled game between the Miracle and the St. Lucie Mets was postponed due to rain and ruined Islands Night at Hammond Stadium.
Wednesday’s game was rescheduled as part of a doubleheader on Thursday featuring two seven-inning games. The second game begins approximately 30 minutes after game one is completed.
All tickets from Islands Night are good for Thursday’s games and the traditional Islands Night parade took place between games.
Fans who purchased tickets to Wednesday’s game can exchange them for any other regular season non-fireworks game remaining on the 2016 home schedule. Fans can exchange tickets to the remaining fireworks games on Saturday, June 4, Sunday, July 3, and Saturday, Aug. 13 for a $2 upgrade.
