Lee County is hosting the National High School Gymnastics Association (NHSGA) Senior Showcase Invitational next weekend at the Estero Recreation Center in Estero.

The facility boasts 19,000 square feet of floor space, making it an optimal venue for gymnastics and floor events. The event brings approximately 500 room nights to Lee County with a direct economic impact of approximately $250,000.

The Senior Showcase Invitational on May 20-21 features the best 12th grade female gymnasts from around the country. More than 100 high school seniors are expected to compete for individual and team titles. The competition includes bars, beam, vault, and floor performances as the seniors compete for All Around and team awards.

“The Estero Recreation Center offers a great venue for this national gymnastics competition as it offers ample floor space, parking and other quality amenities,” said Jeff Mielke, executive director of Lee County Sports Development. “Gymnasts, coaches and families travel from all over the U.S. to Lee County, and will stay at resorts on Fort Myers Beach during the tournament. It’s a great opportunity to showcase Fort Myers Beach, Estero and surrounding communities as a sports tourism destination.”

Team and All Around competition begins at 10 a.m. on May 20 and individual competition takes place at 9 a.m. on May 21. The event is open to the public. One-day and two-day tickets are available for $10-$15 and can be purchased at the door.
