Cape hosts 4th BMX Classic
It’s Cape Coral BMX Eagle Classic weekend for the fourth straight year at Strausser BMX Park.
Cape Coral BMX?Club hosts the state sanctioned event on Saturday and Sunday expecting more than 800 riders to compete.
“This is a unique sporting opportunity for the Southwest Florida community to come out and enjoy, and we are looking forward to an exciting event,” said Jeff Mielke, executive director of Lee County Sports Development. “Our community is a great destination for a wide variety of sports activities and competitions, and the Cape Coral BMX Eagle Classic is a great example of the many spectacular events held right here in Lee County.”
Admission to the BMX event is free and open to the public.
Last year’s event resulted in approximately 1,000 hotel room nights, $5,000 in resort tax and $300,000 in direct economic impact, according to Mielke.
Lee County Sports Development leads the recruitment and implementation of amateur and professional sports events and activities in the county, with the goal of providing positivev economic impact.
