Ida Baker slips past visiting Fort Myers

Cory Hill drove in both runs for Ida Baker Monday night with RBI singles in the second and fourth innings as the Bulldogs edged Fort Myers 2-1.
Hill’s RBI put the Bulldogs up 2-0 before the Green Wave scored their lone run in the fifth. Dillion Lewis (2-0) tossed four scoreless innings to earn the win for Baker.
The Bulldogs (16-3) played at Port Charlotte on Tuesday.
Baker County 16, Island Coast 4: Felix Camacho slugged two solo home runs on Friday in vain as Island Coast was handed a big defeat.
Chase Chatman took the loss on the mound, one of six pitchers used by the Gators who gave up 15 base hits and made two defensive errors.
Hank Owens, Matt Harvel and Anthony Churlin had extra-base hits for the Gators (11-9), who hosted Cypress Lake on Tuesday.
Mariner 6, LaBelle 3: Mariner dusted off a week of rest with a victory at LaBelle last Thursday.
Christian Velez cracked a two-run home run in the first inning to kick start the Tritons’ offense. The Tritons added a pair of runs in the third inning to add to their advantage.
Justin Waibel had a 4-for-4 night while Velez, Jorge Sunti and Nolan Byers each contributed two hits. Santi and Byers each drove in a run.
Daniel Varner (4-3) tossed three innings allowing one run on three hits with six strikeouts to earn the victory for the Tritons (11-8), who played at North Fort Myers Tuesday afternoon.
