Buss tosses no-hitter, raps two doubles to lead Cape

Makenzie Buss did it all for Cape Coral Tuesday night, tossing a three-inning no-hitter while slugging two doubles and two home runs to account for seven RBI in the Seahawks’ 18-0 triumph at Island Coast.

Buss (12-5) struck out three batters over the three innings to earn the win. Heather Dubai contributed three hits with four RBI and Allie Slaughter had two hits with one double.

The Seahawks (12-6) host the Gators in a rematch Thursday night.

Mariner 7, Port Charlotte 0: Hannah Holloway struck out 11, allowed no runs on one hit and walked just two Tuesday night in Mariner’s shutout victory.

Madison James led the Tritons’ offense with two hits resulting in two RBI and a run scored. Abby Love also contributed two hits as did Jasmine O’Neill. Mariner scored three runs in the fourth inning to take a 5-0 lead at the time.

The Tritons (17-5) play at East Lee County on Wednesday.

Ida Baker 18, Cypress Lake 1: Jasmine Casiano drove in five runs with three hits and Jada Young drove in four with three hits to lead Baker’s rout Tuesday night.

Andrea Walker also produced three runs with a pair of hits.

The Bulldogs (5-14) host Cypress Lake in a district rematch on Thursday.

Baseball

Island Coast 8, Cape Coral 2: Island Coast took an early lead and held off Cape Coral Tuesday night.

Felix Camacho struck out two batters and earned the victory for the Gators. Miguel Vidal had a pair of hits and Matt Harvel drove in a run.

Reed Harris (0-4) took the loss in a six-strikeout performance. True Waltz contributed a double and Spencer Roach drove in a run with a single to lead the Seahawks, who scored single runs in the fourth and sixth innings.

The Seahawks (12-7) host Island Coast in a District 6A-11 rematch on Thursday.

Ida Baker 4, Cypress Lake 3: Bryce Van Horn pitched a complete game Tuesday night to help Ida Baker clip Cypress Lake. He allowed two earned runs while striking out six to earn his fourth win in five decisions.

Ryan Clay contributed two hits and one RBI and had one of three straight singles in the fourth inning that put Baker up 3-0. Gabe Villaverde and Alex Rios had the other singles in the rally.

The Bulldogs (14-2) have won four in a row after suffering a two-game losing streak and host Cypress Lake in a district rematch on Thursday.

Mariner 5, Port Charlotte 4: Andrew Arsenault allowed four earned runs by scattering nine hits over seven innings Tuesday night in Mariner’s one-run victory in nine innings.

Joseph Sagi (1-1) picked up the win tossing two innings in relief of Arsenault, allowing one hit and recording one strikeout.

The Tritons scored two runs on Jim Meredith’s two-run, two-out single in the fourth inning after Nolan Byers drove in two runs with a two-out triple in the second. Mason Eicher had the only multiple-hit night with two hits.

Tied 4-4 entering the ninth inning, the Tritons loaded the bases with no outs on a pair of hits and an intentional walk. After two flights failed to produce a run, Jorge Sunti hit a walk-off ground ball single up the middle to score the game-winning run.

The Tritons (8-8) travel to East Lee County on Wednesday.
