Gators roll over Bulldogs, 7-1
Island Coast handed Ida Baker it’s second defeat in a row Tuesday night, a 7-1 decision at Baker.
Chase Chatman and Anthony Churlin each drove in two runs to lead the Gators’ offense. Chatman finished with three hits and Churlin with a pair of doubles.
Luke Endsley had a double for the Bulldogs (10-2). Bryce Van Horn (4-1) took the loss on the mound after four innings allowing one earned run and striking out four. The Bulldogs travel to East Lee County on Thursday.
Felix Camacho (3-1) pitched four innings while striking out five to earn the win.
The Gators (8-5) scores a run in the first inning and three more in the third ahead of the Bulldogs’ lone run scoring in the bottom of the third. The Gators extended their lead with two runs in the fifth and another in the seventh.
The Gators host Fort Myers on Thursday.
Mariner 6, South Fort Myers 3: Andrew Patton (2-1) scattered five hits over five innings and one strikeout Tuesday night while allowing two runs to help Mariner get back to the .500 mark on the season.
Mason Eicher doubled among his two hits and Justin Waibel drove in a run off three hits to lead the Tritons, who opened a 4-run lead in the third inning. South countered with two runs in the fifth to close the gap, but the Tritons finished off the Wolfpack with two runs in the sixth.
The Tritons (7-7) host Estero on Thursday.
Softball
Ida Baker 11, Island Coast 7: Kiley Jones drove in three runs to match Jasmine Casiano and Jada Young to lead Ida Baker’s victory over Island Coast on Tuesday.
Casino and Young both finished with three base hits to earn the Bulldogs (2-13) their second win of the season. The Bulldogs play at East Lee County on Thursday.
Cape Coral 18, Cypress Lake 4: Alyssa Mellaci and Heather Dubay each drove in two runs with a pair of doubles to lead Cape Coral’s five-inning, mercy-rule victory Tuesday night.
Mackenzie Buss (9-5) earned the win on the mound with five strikeouts over five innings. The Seahawks (9-6) play a rematch at Cypress Lake on Friday.
