DeSoto rallies to clip Mariner 4-3

DeSoto County scored two runs to break a 2-2 tie in the fifth inning to clip Mariner 4-2 Monday night.

Dylan Reid took the loss with two innings in relief or Raymond Williamson, who allowed two hits and just three hits with four strikeouts over four innings.

Mason Eicher led the Tritons with two hits. Justin Weibel contributed a double and Christian Velez a triple. James Bartolotta drove in one run with a single.

The Tritons (4-5) visit Cape Coral on Tuesday.

Oasis 7, Evangelical Christian 6: Oasis took advantage of six errors and seven walks to edge Evangelical Christian for the first time in school history Monday night.

The Sharks managed just two base hits and still won the game. ECS scored two runs in the sixth inning to tie the game 6-6, but the Sharks scratched for the game-winning run in the seventh to win it. Jake Hadden flared a low hit in front of the second baseman, who had no choice but to barehand the ball to get Hadden at first. He didn’t and Kevin Newton scored from third base.

The Sharks (4-4) host Bishop Verot on Tuesday.

Softball

Oasis 16, Island Coast 2: Kaylee Morfis homered and drove in three runs while Kaitlyn Caulfield added three hits with three RBI to lead Oasis to victory on Monday.

Abby Bryant, Ashley Shugars and Camri Aho contributed two hits apiece. Aho was the winning pitcher for the Sharks (6-3).
