Baker extends unbeaten streak at Cape’s expense
Ida Baker sprayed 11 base hits against Cape Coral Friday night en route to an 11-0 victory.
Luke Endsley led the way with three hits while Dakota Kayatta and Christian Proffitt added two hits apiece. Trey Koza drove in three runs with two hits and Proffitt drove in a pair.
Chris Schrowe (3-0) tossed four innings to pick up with win, allowing both Seahawks hits while striking out four.
Andrew Jaffarian took the loss on the mound for the Seahawks.
The Bulldogs (6-0) travel to North Fort Myers on Tuesday while the Seahawks host Mariner.
Island Coast 8, North Fort Myers 0: Felix Camacho led Island Coast with three base hits at the plate while limiting North Fort Myers to three hits in a shutout victory on Friday.
Camacho (2-1) tossed 5 1/3 innings, striking out six. Hank Owens contributed two base hits while Miguel Vidal drove in a pair of runs with a sacrifice fly and a groundout.
The Gators (3-4) host Port Charlotte on Tuesday.
Mariner 13, Cypress Lake 3: Nolan Byers drove in three runs with a pair of base hits to lead Mariner’s 10-run victory Friday.
Andrew Arsenault added two hits with one RBI while winning pitcher D.J. Varner (2-1) tossed a complete game allowing five hits with four strikeouts.
The Tritons (4-4) host DeSoto County Monday night.
Oasis 3, Clewiston 1: Kevin Newton drove in a run with one base hit as Oasis held off Clewiston Friday.
Lewis Evans also had a base hit and scored a run as the Sharks got the game-winning run in the fourth inning. Stephen Siciliano (1-1) tossed six innings of three-hit ball with five strikeouts with Dennis Talarico mopping up with a scoreless, hitless seventh inning.
The Sharks (3-4) host Evangelical Christian on Monday.
Softball
Mariner 17, Cypress Lake 7: Jasmine O’Neill banged out four base hits and scored two runs Friday in Mariner’s 10-run victory.
Madison James added a two-run homer in the third inning that tied the game 5-5 at the time, but the Tritons struck for five runs in the fourth to pull away. Hannah Holloway (5-4) got the pitching decision with four strikeouts while driving in three runs with three hits at the plate.
The Tritons (8-4) play at Cape Coral on Tuesday.
Cape Coral 8, Ida Baker 1: Makenzie Buss once again led Cape Coral on the mound and at the plate in Friday’s victory over crosstown rival Ida Baker.
Buss (7-2) struck out 12 batters and allowed just three hits while going 4-for-4 at the plate with two doubles and scoring three runs. Danielle Smith contributed three hits with a double and one RBI and Tara Striggow and Ashley Wagner each contributed two hits.
The Seahawks (7-2) host Cape Coral on Tuesday.
