Add one more victory to the season total for the unbeaten Mariner Tritons, who stepped over Cypress Lake 59-32 Tuesday night in their final District 5A-12 game of the regular season.

“Cypress Lake came out in a defense that took us time to figure out,” said Tritons coach James Harris. “We came out in the third quarter and took control.”

Isaiah Darrett pitched in 18 points and pulled down eight rebounds to lead the Tritons (19-0, 8-0 district).

Friday night’s game at Fort Myers could determine if the Tritons unbeaten season continues – or not.

Island Coast 65, North Fort Myers 60: Craig Sirmons connected for a game-high 26 points and grabbed a team-high 13 rebounds Tuesday night to lead Island Coast to its fourth straight win.

The win also practically guarantees the Gators the No. 3 seeding for the district tournament in two weeks.

Quad Jenkins backed Sirmons with 10 points, seven rebounds and five steals while Emerson Lagrace contributed 12 points.

The Gators opened a 10-point lead on the Red Knights in the fourth quarter, setting the stage for a comeback bid, but the Gators hit their free throws down the stretch, including 4-of-4 by Sirmons, to hold off the Knights.

“We’re back to playing well,” said Gators coach Greg Coleman.

The Gators (12-11) play their final district game on Friday at home against Charlotte, the likely No. 2 seed behind No. 1 Port Charlotte.

Boys Soccer

District 4A-12: Palmetto Ridge scored near the end of the first overtime Tuesday night to end the season for Ida Baker 1-0 in the first round of the district tournament.

“I thought we played well for the first 20 minutes or so,” said Bulldogs coach Greg Winkler. “They had the advantage after that when the game was back and forth, but our guys responded well. I felt if it went to penalty kicks we had a chance to decide the game.”

It didn’t make it to penalty kicks as goalkeeper Alex Buntrock, who had nine saves in the game, gave up the game-winner in the 89th minute.

The Bulldogs season ends at 9-11-2 while Palmetto Ridge advances to the district semifinal round on Wednesday.

LCAC: Nate Allen of Cape Coral High and Warren Williams of North Fort Myers are among 8 inductees into the Lee County Athletic Conference (LCAC) Hall of Fame class of 2016.

They will be honored at a banquet at the Crowne Plaze Hotel at 5 p.m. on May 15.
