Cape boys notch 13th victory
Haris Muhic scored off a corner kick by Camilo Avendano Wednesday night to break a scoreless tie and send Cape Coral to a 5-0 victory over South Fort Myers.
The game-winning goal came five minutes into the second half and opened the floodgates for the Seahawks, who tacked on four more goals before the final horn. Five different players wound up scoring goals. Muhic’s game-winner was followed by scores by Angel Arango, Jose Parra, Jonathan Jimenez and Daniel Medina. Parra, Medina, Christopher Iturbe and Kevin Retana were credited with assists during the scoring flurry. Medina’s goal, the fifth of the game, came from 35 yards out on a let-it-fly attempt.
Goalkeepers Kyal Weber and Steven Patino each made two saves to preserve the shutout.
“They put up a strong wall, but Medina beat it for the last goal,” said Seahawks coach Aldo Nardiello.
The Seahawks (13-1, 6-0 district) host Bishop Verot in a non district match on Friday.
