Blades blank Eagles 3-0

LOVELAND, Colo. – Anthony Peters saved all 30 shots faced to lead the Florida Everblades to a 3-0 victory over the Colorado Eagles Wednesday night.

The Everblades began to gain momentum in the second period. Failing to convert a power-play early in the period, the Eagles found themselves increasingly under pressure from the Everblades.

The breakthrough came at the 8:35 mark when Carter Sandlak’s outlet pass found Ethan Werek. The young forward took advantage of his speed to gain a 2-on-1 opportunity. Carrying the puck into the attacking zone, Werek eluded a diving defender and centered the puck for Jon DiSalvatore, who lifted it past Eagles goaltender Kris Lazaruk for the goal.

The Everblades entered the third period up 1-0, but the Eagles peppered goaltender Anthony Peters with shot-after-shot throughout the third period.

With each shot came a save. The Everblades finally got their chance at the 9:26 mark. Brought into the zone by the returning Kevin Lynch, the puck went to Gabriel Desjardins, who hurled it to the left wing side where Matt Willows met the puck and buried it for his sixth goal of the season.

Trailing 2-0 late in the game, Colorado was forced to pull its goaltender. The man advantage did not help as Corey Syvret scored to give the Blades the 3-0 win.

Peters earned his second shutout of the season, and third of his career, stopping all 30 shots faced.

The Everblades continue their Western Conference road-trip Friday night when they once again take on the Eagles at 9:05 p.m.
