Island Coast hosts its annual Turkey Shootout invitational basketball tourney on Friday and Saturday.

Six of the 16 teams participating reside in Lee County. Mariner, Fort Myers, Lehigh, South Fort Myers and Southwest Florida Christian join the host Gators for some post-Thanksgiving Day exercise.

The Gators open the tournament at 10 a.m. against South Fort Myers. Mariner takes on Naples at 1 p.m. The last game of the first day pits Lehigh against Tampa Belen Jesuit at 8:30 p.m.

Teams reshuffle opponents for Saturday’s action that begins at 10 a.m. – and about every 90 minutes thereafter – when SWF?Christian tips off against Gulf Coast.

Island Coast faces Viera at 2:30 p.m. and Mariner meets Boca Ciega at 5:30 p.m.

In another Thanksgiving tournament in Naples, Mariner’s girls are participating in the Bokamper’s Thanksgiving Turkey Shootout at Barron Collier that wraps up Saturday.

Only Dunbar remains to represent Lee County in the Regional Final round of the high school football playoffs.

The Tigers (9-2) travel to Tampa on Friday to battle Jesuit for the Region 5A-3 title. The winner advances to the State Semifinals next week with the 5A State Championship game looming on Dec. 11.
