Seahawk girls post 5th win 63-30
Deidre Cheremound turned in a double-double performance far from home Friday night to lead undefeated Cape Coral to a lopsided victory at Sarasota Christian 63-30.
Ceremony scored a game-high 20 points and pulled down 15 rebounds while Crystal Mendoza contributed eight points to the cause of the Seahawks (5-0), who host Ida Baker on Monday.
Boys Basketball
St. John Neumann 54, Bishop Verot 37: A poor shooting night doomed Bishop Verot in a double-digit defeat Friday night at St. John Neumann.
No Vikings player reached double figures in scoring while Jack Youman and Paul Costain led Neumann with 18 and 11 points, respectively.
The Vikings (1-2) are idle until Dec. 1 when they pay a visit to East Lee County.
Girls Soccer
Mariner 6, Bishop Verot 1: Taylor Yount scored two goals and assisted on three others to lead the Tritons’ victory Friday night.
Julissa Chimelis contributed a pair of goals while Karina Sigala and Paige Paul added one goal apiece. Goalkeeper Alexis Restrepo made four saves to preserve the Tritons’ win.
The Tritons (7-0-2) play again Tuesday at Island Coast.
Ida Baker 5, Palmetto Ridge 1: Haley Rounsifer knocked in three goals Friday night to lead Baker’s victory in Naples.
Roxie Fraser and Jennie Schecter each contributed one goal while keeper Jenna Payton was credited with 10 saves. The Bulldogs (3-2-1) visit Bishop Verot on Monday.
