Verot boys drop hoops opener 58-43
The basketball season began on a sour note for the Bishop Verot Vikings, who lost their opener Wednesday night at home to Barron Collier 58-43.
Austin Mosbach topped all scorers with 20 points for the Vikings, but it was not enough to overcome the Cougars (2-0), who got double-figure scoring from james Harris (14 points) and Bryce Foggin (11 points).
“We have three out with injuries and we just got the football players,” said Vikings coach Matt Herting. “The overlap with football is getting longer.”
The Vikings (0-1) host Marco Island on Thursday.
