Seahawks post fourth win
Three different players scored goals Thursday night to carry unbeaten Cape Coral to a 3-2 victory over Golden Gate.
Jose Parra, Angel Arango and Camilo Avendano netted goals with two assists from Mateo Arango and one from Avendano. Goalkeeper Kyal Weber made nine saves to protect the margin of victory.
The Seahawks led 3-1 at halftime with Golden Gate scoring a late goal to make the final margin close. The Seahawks (4-0) travel to Tampa to take on Jesuit on Saturday.
Fort Myers 4, Ida Baker 0: Nagging injuries prevented Ida Baker from true competition against Fort Myers Thursday night, despite goalkeeper Alex Buntrock’s eight saves.
“We are a bit of a depleted state right now with injuries,” said Bulldogs coach Greg Winkler.
The Bulldogs (0-3-1) play at East Lee County on Tuesday.
Mariner 4, Riverdale 3: Mariner rolled to victory Thursday night behind the three goals by Eric Rivera with Pedro Reyes tacking on one goal.
The Tritons led 3-1 at halftime before the Raiders rallied.
“We took our foot off the gas a bit in the second half and they made a game of it,” said Tritons coach Martin Cardenas.
Joey Lane had one assist and goalkeeper Mason Eicher was credited with 10 saves on the night. The Tritons (3-1) host Port Charlotte on Tuesday.

Fort Myers 4, Ida Baker 0: Baker trailed just 1-0 at halftime despite having both of its regular goalkeepers knocked out of the game with concussion symptoms in Thursday night’s loss to Fort Myers.
Coming up short of calling the Green Wave’s play dirty, Bulldogs coach Chris Vainest was forced to use bench player Sabrina Gahabka, who never played keeper before, for the entire second half.
“We were dominating the play,” said Vainest. “We had outshot them two-to-one.”
The Bulldogs (2-2-1) have a match scheduled for Saturday against American Heritage, but Vainest said the game would be canceled if he did not have a regular keeper cleared to play.
“It doesn’t make sense to have Heritage drive 2 1/1 hours to play a glorified scrimmage game without a real goalkeeper for us. I hope (Ashley Revis or Jena Payton) can clear the concussion protocol for us to play.”
Cape Coral 2, Golden Gate 0: Serena Vega and Sarah Magin scored goals to lift Cape Coral past Golden Gate on Thursday.
Goalkeeper Blaire Dupuy was credited with three saves to preserve the shutout for the Seahawks (2-3), who visit North Fort Myers on Tuesday.
