Cape Coral made its girls’ basketball season debut Monday night with a dominating 65-22 victory over crosstown rival Mariner.

Deirdre Cheremond was the game’s only double-figure scorer with 10 points and eight rebounds for the Seahawks. Mika Shilevis and Crystal Mendoza contributed eight points apiece.

Kiera Bateman topped the Tritons (0-1) with seven points.

The Seahawks (1-0) host Port Charlotte in their first district encounter on Thursday.
