Seahawks rout Riverdale 8-1

Cape Coral coasted to victory Thursday night 8-1 at Riverdale behind the strong offensive effort of Gianni Coganata and Hunter Guerrero with two goals apiece.

Other Seahawks goals came from Jose Parra, Sergio Arango, Kevin Retana and Xavier Torres. Goalkeepers Kyal Weber and Steven Patino preserved the victory with four and five saves, respectively.

The Seahawks (2-0) host St. Thomas Aquinas at 3 p.m. on Saturday.

Mariner 4, Charlotte 1: Erick Rivera scored three goals to lead Mariner to victory over Charlotte Thursday night.

Joseph Lane netted the Tritons fourth goal with Rivera and Joseph Nizama credited with assists. Goalkeeper Robert Quintanilla saved four shots to preserve the victory.

The Tritons got strong performances off the bench by Thomas Riccardi and Sebastian Lopez-Trujillo. The Tritons (2-0) take on Cape High on Tuesday.

Girls Soccer

Ida Baker 4, Cypress Lake 0: Haley Rounsifer tallied two goals to spark Ida Baker past Cypress Lake on Thursday.

Roxie Fraser and Paxton Guerin added one goal apiece to round out the Bulldogs’ scoring. Goalkeeper Ashley Revis posted five saves to preserve the shutout.

The Bulldogs (2-1-1) host Fort Myers next Thursday to open the District play.

Riverdale 4, Cape Coral 0: Riverdale opened a 2-0 lead by halftime and went on to shut out Cape Coral Thursday night.

Goalkeeper Blaire Dupuy made six saves on the night. The Seahawks (1-2) play at Mariner on Tuesday.

North Fort Myers 1, Bishop Verot 0: Tori Kowalczyk’s goal with 11 minutes to go lifted North Fort Myers to victory at Bishop Verot Thursday night.

Nicole Paquin assisted on the second-half goal while goalkeepers Coral Jarvis and Summer Aackerson posted five and two saves, respectively, to preserve the shutout. Ackerson’s one-on-one save in the last 20 minutes played a huge rule in the victory, according to Red Knights coach Nick Erickson.

“Bishop Verot played well and deserved a better result,” said Erickson.

The Red Knights (3-0-1) play at Island Coast on Tuesday.
