Returning to the bench after a one-year retirement, Cape Coral Seahawks boys’ soccer coach Aldo Nardiello led his squad to a 5-0 season-opening victory Tuesday night over Fort Myers.

Nardiello’s new start with the Seahawks started positively with a shutout win, led by Gianni Cognata and Jonathan Jimenez, who tallied two goals apiece. Sophomore Jose Parra scored his first varsity goal for the Seahawks’ other goal. Cognata accounted for a pair of saves with Christian Iturbe and Andre Blanco each contributing one assist. Goalkeeper Kyal Weber made six saves with Steven Patino mopping up with two saves to preserve the shutout.
