Baker, North notch first soccer wins

Ida Baker and North Fort Myers recorded their first win of the girls’ soccer season Thursday night. Baker was a 3-2 winner at Port Charlotte while North downed Gulf Coast 3-1.

Three different players scored goals for the Bulldogs with Sedona Townsend providing the game-winner unassisted midway through the second half to snap a 2-2 tie. Marcella Montoya and Roxie Frasier got the other two goals, both in the first half.

Frasier and Paxton Guerin were credited with assists. Goalkeeper Acelya Aydogmous made six saves for the Bulldogs (1-0, who host Lakewood Ranch on Monday.

North Fort Myers 3, Gulf Coast 1: Tori Kowalczyk tallied two goals in the Red Knights’ win at Gulf Coast Thursday.

Taylor Kruse accounted for the Knights’ other goal with Madison Lampkins, Amanda Dasilva and Gabby Ciancimino each posting assists. Goalkeepers Coral Jarvis (7) and Summer Ackerson (5) helped preserve the win.

North (1-0-1) hosts Barron Collier on Tuesday.

Oasis 2, Cape Coral 0: Oasis scored what proved to be the game-winning goal in the first two minutes Thursday en route to a shutout of the Seahawks in the season-opening match for both schools.

The Sharks tacked on an insurance goal early in the second half.

Blaire Dupuy tended goal for the Seahawks, making seven saves. Cape (0-1) travels to Gateway Charter on Monday.
