A wet field played a key role in the season-opening scoreless tie for North Fort Myers against Naples Tuesday night.
“We were outplayed in the first half and we outplayed them in the second,” said Red Knights coach Nick Erickson.
Goalkeeper Coral Jarvis only had to make four saves to preserve the tie for the Knights (0-0-1) and send them to Thursday’s match at Gulf Coast.
Gulf Coast 3, Bishop Verot 0: Bishop Verot outshot their guests 17-7 in Tuesday’s season-opening game, but surrendered three goals on seven shots to lose to Gulf Coast.
“We didn’t score. They found the net and we were unable to,” said Vikings coach Randy Zavala. “We have some work to do.”
Goalkeeper Bridget Myers saved two of the shots she faced for the Vikings (0-1), who hosts Estero on Monday.
