Rabbits rally to clip Blades 3-2

GREENVILLE, S.C. Josh Nicholls scored twice to help lead the Greenville Swamp Rabbits to a 3-2 come-from-behind victory over the Florida Everblades Sunday afternoon.

Florida got on the board first taking advantage of an early power play opportunity. After a faceoff, Justin Agosta hurled a shot that was tipped and redirected into the net past goaltender Adam Morrison by Blades forward Corey Cowick.

The Everblades (4-2) extended their lead to 2-0 when Cowick picked up a loose puck off a rebound at the right side of the crease. He flipped the puck behind Morrison for the tally. Cowick’s second of the game gave Florida a two-goal advantage heading into the first intermission.

Greenville got going in the second period at the 5:12 mark. Nicholls flipped a shot from directly beside the net that hit off the body of Peters covering the post. The puck managed to find space and sneak into the net for the goal.

Just four minutes later, Nicholls struck again, when Jack Combs delivered a no-look backhanded pass across the low slot that found Nicholls; stick, shoving the puck behind Peters for the tying tally to put the score at 2-2 after two periods of play.

The teams slugged it out in the third, but the Swamp Rabbits took the game on a goal by Emerson Clark at 17:05 of the final stanza. Clark batted a rebound out of mid-air that clipped over the shoulder of Peters and into the net for the goal to secure the 3-2 win.

Peters takes the loss allowing three goals on 25 shots faced. Both Matt Marquardt and Brendan O’Donnell saw their five-game point streaks come to an end in the game,

The Everblades return to Germain Arena to open a two-game home set with the South Carolina Stingrays on Wednesday and Friday.(Oct. 30, 7:30 p.m.)
