Seahawk golfers capture District 2A-20 crown
Cape Coral nailed down the girls’ District 2A-20 championship Tuesday by a wide margin at Royal Tee Country Club.
Brooke Ciccone led the Seahawks to a team total of 380 by shooting 76. She was backed by Mia Nelson with 93.
Ida Baker’s Brittney Shin fired a sub-par round of 64 to claim the individual district championship and carry the Bulldogs to second place with a team total of 456. North Fort Myers took third in the field with 470, led by Ashlyn Dwenger with 110.
All three teams advance to the Region 2A-7 Tournament on Monday at Port Charlotte Country Club.

Volleyball
Mariner 3, Lehigh 0: Teamwork, hustle and Samantha Smith carried Mariner to a 25-9, 25-12, 25-8 victory Tuesday night.
Smith delivered with 21 points, 19 of those on service aces, to go with five kills. Setter Alivia Olsen scored four points with 12 assists and senior Madi McClellan scored 13 points.
The Tritons host Cape Coral on Thursday.
Fort Myers 3, Ida Baker 0: Amanda Gross collected six kills and 10 digs, but Ida Baker lost to powerful fort Myers Tuesday night 25-8, 25-10, 25-11.
Lexis Chancey contributed two kills, one block and two digs while Val Carvajal added six assists and five digs for the Bulldogs (9-13), who host Gateway Charter on Wednesday.
Bishop Verot 3, Barron Collier 1: Verot rallied from one game down to beat Barron Collier 22-25, 25-20, 25-21m 25-23 Tuesday night in Naples.
Tea Leonard powered the Vikings to victory with 11 kills to go with 16 assists. Margaux Fry and Melissa Becker each contributed 10 kills. Allie Gerlach handed out 26 assists to go with 12 diggs and Kelsey Sullivan added 21 digs.
The Vikings (21-2) now prepare for the District 4A-10 Tournament starting Tuesday at Verot.
Estero 3, Island Coast 0: Estero dispatched Island Coast in straight sets Tuesday 25-15, 26-24, 25-21.
Megan Smith topped the Gators with three service aces to go with three kills. Riley Hare added two aces and 19 digs while Julia Rose contributed eight assists and 12 digs.
