Verot posts 20th victory
Bishop Verot recorded its 20th victory of the season Thursday night with a 25-10, 25-17, 25-19 sweep at LaBelle.
Margaux Fry powered the Vikings’ offense with 11 kills. She was backed by Alyssa Collins with 28 digs and Teya Leonard with 19 assists.
The Vikings (20-2) visit Barron Collier on Tuesday.
Mariner 3, Cypress Lake 0: Teamwork and intensity enabled Mariner to sweep Cypress Lake Thursday night 25-11, 25-12, 25-14.
Senior middle blocker Jasmine O’Neill and junior setter Alivia Olsen led the Tritons offense.
SWF Christian 3, Ida Baker 0: Baker put up a fight to the end, but lost a straight set decision 25-13, 25-17, 25-17 at Southwest Florida Christian Thursday night.
Amanda Gross led the Bulldogs with nine kills and 11 digs. Sydney Sammons contributed two kills, four blocks and 11 digs while Ashley Revis handed out eight assists.
The Bulldogs (9-12) travel to Fort Myers on Tuesday.
Golf
(Boys) At Palmetto Pine: Blake Donnelly shot 1-over-par 37 Thursday to help lead Ida Baker to victories over Oasis and Mariner in the final regular season match.
Three rounds in the 30s produced Baker’s team total of 157, while Oasis scored 215 and Mariner 218.
Chase Ryan led the Sharks with 49 while Joey Sagi shot 43 to top the Tritons.
Baker (10-3) and Mariner play in the District 2A-20 Tournament on Monday at Palmetto Pine. Oasis plays in the District 1A-17 Tournament Monday at Heritage Palms Golf & Country Club.
