Cape Coral had no answer for powerful Charlotte Tuesday night as the visiting Tarpons rolled to a 25-13, 25-20, 25-12 victory.

The loss hands the Seahawks their fifth District 6A-10 defeat in five matches, and dropped them to 11-7 on the season.

Danielle Smith served up four aces for the Seahawks to go with eight assists. Allays Henry added four kills and two blocks while Heather Souchik was credited with nine kills. Mackenzie Buss contributed eight digs to the effort.

The Seahawks travel to East Lee County on Thursday.

Mariner 3, Dunbar 0: Samantha Smith attacked the net and the ball in leading Mariner to a 25-10, 25-16, 25-6 victory at Dunbar Tuesday night.

Smith delivered 10 points on her serves to go with three kills. Setter Alivia Olsen garnered 15 assists.

Ida Baker 3, Port Charlotte 2: Ida Baker outlasted Port Charlotte Tuesday night in a five-set marathon. The Bulldogs had to reach back and rally for an 11-25, 25-18, 25-22, 20-25, 15-13 victory.

Amanda Gross led the Bulldogs with 23 kills to go with 29 digs and five service aces. Alicia Marzullo added 16 kills, 18 digs and three aces. Setter Val Carvajal handed out 18 assists.

The Bulldogs (9-11, 1-5 district) visit Southwest Florida Christian on Thursday.
