Gators upend Seahawks in 5 sets
Mikaela Monahan came through in a big way Monday night to lead Island Coast past city rival Cape Coral in five sets 17-25, 25-23, 20-25, 25-15, 15-12.
Monaghan was credited with seven kills to go with 12 digs and three service aces while Julia Rose handed out 13 assists to go with 19 digs and three aces. Riley Hare led the defense with 27 digs.
Danielle Smith led the Seahawks with five aces, 23 assists and 20 digs. Makenzie Buss contributed 25 digs while Deidre Cheremond delivered a team-high 11 kills and Alayshia Henry adding 10 kills. Hanna Galbreath was credited with three solo blocks.
Island Coast visits East Lee County on Wednesday. Cape Coral (10-5, 0-4 district)
travels to Riverdale next Monday.
Ida Baker 3, South Fort Myers 1: Sydney Sammons backed teammate Amanda Gross in offense and defensive categories Monday night to lead Ida Baker past South Fort Myers 25-20, 25-22, 17-25, 26-24.
Gross led the team with 12 kills and 26 digs to go with eight assists and three service aces. Simmons contributed seven kills, 12 digs and five aces.
The Bulldogs (6-6) visit North Fort Myers on Wednesday.
Golf
(Boys) At Legends: Ida Baker took home medalist honors Monday in a 172-206 victory over Cypress Lake.
Adrian Strey won medalist honors with 41 for the Bulldogs, backed by Ben Hunt with 42, T.J. Clapp with 44 and David Trawick 45.
Jake Kalisik shot 45 to top the Panthers.
The Bulldogs (5-3) participate in the Bishop Verot Invitational Wednesday at Stony Brook.

(Boys) At Royal Tee: Scores were high, but Cape Coral managed to prevail over Island Coast and North Fort Myers Monday.
Led by Joseph Edwards, who shot 48, Cape combined for a team score of 214 with Island Coast totaling 223 and North 227.
Hank Snow led Island Coast with a co-medalist score of 47 to match North’s Brandon Christiansen’s 47.

(Boys) At Coral Oaks: Riverdale clipped Mariner Monday on the Tritons’ home course, putting together a team total of 216 to 230 for the Tritons.
Mark Iwinski claimed medalist honors with a low score of 41. Joey Sagi led the Tritons with 47.
The Tritons (3-4) host Ida Baker and North Fort Myers on Thursday.

(Girls) At Magnolia Landings: Brooke Ciccone led Cape Coral to a pair of victories Monday against North Fort Myers and Island Coast.
Ciccone shot par 36 to lead the Seahawks and was backed by Chloe Ermmarino with 42, Mia Nelson with 45 and Brittney Schall 54 for a team total of 177.
Madison Lampkins topped North Fort Myers (224) with 50 and Katie Bruno shot 46 to lead Island Coast (294).
The Seahawks remain undefeated at 10-0 heading into next Tuesday’s match against Fort Myers.
