Swings for Sox funds Lee scholarships

2 min read

The Boston Red Sox Foundation’s fourth annual Swings For The Sox golf tournament is set for Friday, Oct. 23, at Tiburon Golf Club.

Tiburon is located at the Ritz-Carlton Golf Resort in Naples. A scramble format with prizes for the longest drive, putting, closest to the pin and more begins at 9 a.m.

Proceeds from this year’s event will benefit the newly created Red Sox Scholarship in partnership with the Foundation for Lee County Public Schools. The Red Sox Foundation plans to award a $5,000 scholarship to attend college to one deserving student from each of the 13 public high schools in Lee County.

More than $50,000 was raided last year for the Children’s Advocacy Center and The Immokalee Foundation

On the eve of the tournament, JetBlue Park at Fenway South, the 106-acre Spring Training and Player Development Complex of the Red Sox, hosts a Party in the Park “Tee Off” event at 5:30 p.m. Oct. 22.

All guests receive ballpark bites and cocktails on the Green Monster. The night also includes opportunities to take batting practice swings at home plate for the chance to win 2016 Spring Training season tickets. Self-guided tours, a one-of-a-kind silent auction and raffle prizes are featured during the event.

Individual tickets are $25. Kids, 12 and younger are free. For more information call 239-226-4783.
