Blades, Lynch agree to terms
The Florida Everblades have agreed to terms with forward Kevin Lynch for the 2015-16 season, the team announced Thursday.
Lynch, 24, returns to Southwest Florida after contributing seven points (2g, 5a) in 11 games for the Everblades last season, and four points (3g, 1a) in 53 appearances with the Syracuse Crunch of the American Hockey League.
The 6-foot-1, 198-pound center recorded 35 points in 67 ECHL games split between the Toledo Walleye (28 points in 53 games) and the Evansville IceMen (7 points in 14 games) in 2013-14.
“Kevin is a strong two-way center who provides strength for us down the middle,” said Everblades coach Greg Poss. “He is good on faceoffs and he also will provide some leadership for us this season.”
Lynch totaled 72 points during his four-year collegiate career at the University of Michigan, which includes a career-best 27-point campaign with the Wolverines during the 2012-13 season.
The native of Grosse Pointe, Mich., is a 2009 second-round draft choice (56th overall) of the Columbus Blue Jackets.
Lynch becomes the 12th player to agree to terms with the Everblades for 2015-16.
The Blades open the season on Oct. 15-16 when they face the Gwinnett Gladiators at Germain Arena.
