Seahawks sweep Jaguars 3-0
Alayshia Henry and Deidre Cheremond made significant contributions Thursday night as Cape Coral swept East Lee County in straight sets 25-12, 25-12, 25-14 to run their season record to 8-3.
Henry and Ceremond led the Seahawks with six and five kills, respectively. Hannah Galbreath made four solo blocks while Danielle Smith handed out 16 assists.
Julie Pena and Makenzie Buss delivered defensively making 12 and 11 digs, respectively.
The Seahawks host Lemon Bay on Tuesday.
St. John Neumann 3, Ida Baker 1: Amanda Gross turned in a top performance that included 14 kills and nine digs Thursday, but it was not enough to bring a victory as Ida Baker lost at St. John Neumann 25-22, 25-20, 24-26, 25-16.
Ashley Revis contributed 11 assists for the Tritons (5-4), who visit Island Coast on Tuesday.
Island Coast 3, South Fort Myers 1: Island Coast defeated South Fort Myers 24-26, 25-19, 25-13, 25-22 Thursday night behind Megan Smith’s 12 kills in on 23 attempts. Smith and Hailey Kalamaras defended the net with three solo blocks each. Riley Hare scooped up 25 digs in the match and Mikaelah Monahan served up 7 aces.
The Gators host Ida Baker on Tuesday.
Bishop Verot 3, Barron Collier 0: Mindie Mabry and Margaux Fry combined to make 19 kills Thursday night in leading Bishop Verot past Barron Collier.
Mabry led the way with 11 kills with Selina Pfuner contributing five kills. Alyssa Collins added a dozen digs defensively for the Vikings (5-0), who host Estero next Tuesday.

(Boys) At Coral Oaks: Joey Sagi earning the medalist round with a 42 Thursday was the brightest highlight for Mariner in a loss to Cypress Lake.
Jake Kalisik shot 46 to lead the Panthers. All other players turned in scores of 51 or higher.
The Tritons (2-2) host the 18-hole North of the River Tournament Friday at Coral Oaks.

(Girls) At Herons Glen: Island Coast evened its record at 1-1 Thursday with a five-hole victory over East Lee County, which had just three players.
Katie Bruno carded 43 strokes over her five holes to lead the Gators, who host Cypress Lake on Sept. 17 at Herons Glen.
