Ida Baker downs Estero

It went to the maximum five games before Ida Baker prevailed over Estero Thursday night in volleyball.

The Bulldogs claimed the odd games, 1, 3 and 5 in a five-set victory at home over Estero 25-18, 23-25, 25-11, 16-25 and 17-15.

Amanda Gross led the Tritons with 18 kills to go with six service aces and 22 digs. Alicia Marzullo delivered 16 kills to go with four aces and 11 digs with Val Carvajal distributing 21 assists.

Thew Bulldogs (3-1) participate in the Shark Invitational Saturday at Oasis in their next action.

Immokalee 3, Mariner 2: Immokalee’s height on the front line proved to be the difference Thursday night as the Indians downed the Tritons 25-14, 25-16, 14-25, 14-25, 15-2.

“It was a tough loss tonight,” said Tritons coach Brigid Zalesak. “Our girls battled in match 3 and 4, but Immokalee’s double-block ability was the difference.”

Senior Jasmine O’Neill dominated at the net and ended the night with eight kills and five blocks for the Tritons.

Cape Coral 3, Lehigh 0: Deidre Cheremond’s five kills combined with Heather Souchick’s four kills helped lead the Seahawks to a 25-14, 25-10, 25-16 victory Thursday night over Lehigh.

Danielle Smith contributed seven service aces to go with 14 assists for the Seahawks, who are participating in the Oasis Shark Invitational on Saturday.
