Miracle play finale Sunday
Down to the final three games of the Florida State League season, the Fort Myers Miracle (36-30, 74-62) take on the Charlotte Stone Crabs in the final series. Two of the games, tonight and Sunday morning, are at Hammond Stadium with Saturday’s game in Port Charlotte.
The Miracle are not heading to the postseason playoffs, but the Stone Crabs (24-39) are by virtue of having captured the first-half division title. Their second-half was not as successful as the Crabs are mired in last place in the South Division standings heading into the weekend.
Fans are invited to stretch with on-field yoga exercises for 90 minutes at Hammond Stadium Sunday morning, starting at 8:15 a.m. The Miracle and Stone Crabs play the season finale at 11:05 a.m.
Heather Holland, a yoga trainer for professional athletes, will lead the session. After yoga, the Miracle concessions will provide a menu of delicious breakfast offerings, brunch mimosas and Bloody Mary’s.
A late comeback by the Jupiter Hammerheads erased a 2-0 deficit and beat the Fort Myers Miracle 3-2 in 10 innings Wednesday afternoon.
The Miracle went down 1-2-3 in the 10th against Jupiter reliever C.J. Robinson. Alex Muren took over on the mound for the Miracle and gave up a solo home run to James Roberts to end the game.
The Miracle capitalized on a wild pitch and a passed ball in the first inning to score their first run. Engelb Vielma, on base with a leadoff single, advanced to third on the wild pitch ad scored on the passed ball.
The Miracle took a 2-0 lead in the fifth. Michael Quesada walked and later went to second on a passed ball. Ryan Walker then laced a double to left that drove Quesada home.
Justin Bohn’s RBI single in the sixth got Jupiter on the board and tied the game on Austin Dean’s sac-fly in the ninth.
