Ida Baker wins tri-match against Island Coast, LaBelle

Alec DiLallo fired a nine-hole round of 39 Tuesday at Palmetto Pine Country Club to spark Ida Baker to its first two golf victories in a season-opening tri-match with Island Coast and LaBelle.
All four of Baker’s leading scorers turned in rounds under 44, at least six strokes better than anyone else in the field. Adrian Strey and Blake Donnelly carded 41 while Ben Hunt finished with 44.
Island Coast was led by Hank Owens with 50 while Jason Mathis led LaBelle with a 55.
Baker recorded two wins with its team score of 165 to beat Island Coast at 221 and LaBelle at 262.
The Bulldogs play in Sarasota on Friday in the Riverview Invitational, an 18-hole event.

Lemon Bay 3, Ida Baker 1: Lemon Bay claimed a District 6A-10 debut victory over Ida Baker Tuesday night 25-18, 22-25, 25-23, 25-21.
Amanda Gross led the Bulldogs with 15 kills, six ace serves and 11 digs. She was backed by Alicia Marzullo with 12 kills and four digs while setters Ashley Revis contributed 14 assists and Val Carvallo 10.
The Bulldogs (2-1, 0-1 district) host Estero on Thursday.
Bishop Verot 3, Gulf Coast 1: Bishop Verot ran its record to 3-0 Tuesday night with an 18-25, 25-19, 25-19, 25-22 victory over Gulf Coast.
Mindie Mabry led the Vikings with 15 kills with Margaux Fry adding 10 kills. Tea Leonard handed out 34 assists with Alyssa Collins recording 18 digs.
The Vikings (3-0), host Evangelical Christian on Thursday.
Port Charlotte 3, Cape Coral 0: Makenzie Buss delivered a team-high 12 kills while Danielle Smith handed out 23 assists to go with three service aces in Cape’s District 6A-10 loss to Port Charlotte Tuesday night.
The Seahawks (2-1, 0-1 district), play at Lehigh on Thursday.
South Fort Myers 3, Mariner 0: Junior Kirsten Clardy led Mariner’s losing effort Tuesday night with four kills and three digs against South Fort Myers in straight set s25-23, 25-15, 25-14.
