Cardinals get even with Miracle, 4-1
PALM BEACH – The Fort Myers Miracle lost 4-1 in the second game of the three-game series against the Palm Beach Cardinals Saturday night.
The Cardinals opened the scoring in the bottom of the fourth, which proved to be the only tallies for Palm Beach. Danny Diekroeger tripled, scoring Collin Radack and Luke Voit. A Fort Myers error led to Palm Beach’s third run. The fourth run of the inning came on Blake Drake’s single, driving in Carson Kelly to make it 4-0.
Fort Myers cut the lead by one in the top of the seventh on Logan Wade’s RBI groundout. Wade plated Mitch Garver.
Daniel Ponce de leon (5-0) took the win with six shutout innings, allowing two hits and striking out six. Omar Bencomo (0-1) was the losing pitcher, throwing five innings allowing four runs, two earned.
The Miracle (61-52, 23-20) and Cardinals (60-51, 28-13) play the rubber match of the series at 1:05 p.m. Sunday.
