South FM hires Dixon

South Fort Myers High School has promoted Anthony Dixon to be the next head coach for the Wolfpack football program. He replaces Grant Redhead, the school’s only previous head coach, who resigned recently.

“I have been offered the head football coaching position at South Fort Myers High School, which I’ve accepted with pride,” Dixon said in a prepared statement. “Grant did a great job at building this program and my plan is to keep the success going. I’m excited for the opportunity to maintain South’s program for our student-athletes.”

A search to fill the head coach position was conducted within Lee County. Dixon already was on the coaching staff and served as acting head coach this spring.

“We didn’t have to look too far to find a qualified candidate who brings with him an intricate knowledge of the game and a strong desire to develop student-athletes,” said Principal Melissa Layner.
