The softball postseason begins Monday for teams statewide.

District 6A-11 opens with Island Coast traveling to Port Charlotte for the first round. The winner advances to the semifinals on Tuesday at No. 1 seed North Fort Myers. Ida Baker and Venice collide in the other semifinal with the survivors meeting Thursday for the championship.

Monday’s first round games in District 5A-12 sends Mariner to Immokalee and Cypress Lake to Golden Gate. The winners advance to the semifinals Tuesday at Cape Coral.

The Cypress-Golden Gate winner takes on No. 1 seed Cape Coral at 7 p.m. while the Mariner-Immokalee winner meets No. 2 seed Lely at 4:30. The championship game is set for Thursday.

Same scenario in District 4A-11 with Oasis hosting Dunbar in the first round Monday. The winner meets No. 1 seed Bishop Verot in one semifinal Tuesday at Fleishman Park after Gateway Charter faces LaBelle. That championship game is Thursday at Fleishman Park.

Basketball

Mariner: Graduating senior Rodney Hunter will sign a national scholarship letter-of-intent with Columbia University at a 1 p.m. ceremony next Wednesday in the school cafeteria.
