Trio lead Tritons 15-0 rout
Three players drove in four runs or more Wednesday night to drive Mariner to a 15-0 five-inning victory over East Lee County.
Starting and winning pitcher Logan Hanick (1-0) led the RBI parade with five, going 3-for-3 including a solo home run to highlight a seven-run fourth inning rally. Hanick, making his first start of the season, allowed one hit and struck out five over three innings.
Mason Eicher had four hits, including a double, and four RBI while Jake Milos was 3-for-3 with a double and four RBI. The Tritons opened an early lead with four runs in the second inning, three more in the third and the clinching fourth-inning rally.
The Tritons (12-8) host North Fort Myers on Friday.
Island Coast 11, South Fort Myers 4: David Mata got plenty of offensive support from a four-run first-inning rally Wednesday night en route to registering a victory over South Fort Myers.
Mata (4-2) struck out three over five innings to pick up the win. He also contributed two hits and two RBI at the plate.
Alex Nazario, Felix Camacho and Matt Harvel each contributed two base hits to the cause. Cade Macalouso added an RBI double to highlight the first-inning rally.
The Gators (10-10-1), who lost to Fort Myers 9-3 Tuesday night, host Baker County at 11 a.m. Saturday.
Softball
Mariner 11, East Lee County 3: Mariner struck for six runs in the first inning to set the tone for a big victory at East Lee County Wednesday night.
Jasmine O’Neill led the Tritons with two hits and three RBI. She got offensive support from Amanda Myers (2-for-3) with one RBI and two runs scored, Kaitlyn Adams contributed two hits and Madison James tripled and drove in two runs.
The win went to Kaylyn Friday (6-10), who struck out five batters. The Tritons (7-13) host Pool B play in the Cape Coral-Mariner Tournament on Friday and Saturday.
