As they embark on a seven-game, 11-day road trip, the streaking Florida Everblades hope to hang onto first place in the ECHL’s East Division standings. The first stop is Orlando on Wednesday.

The Blades (40-19) are riding a seven-game winning streak, including three straight wins over the Greenville Road Warriors last week at Germain Arena. After facing fourth-place Orlando (31-28) Wednesday, the road trip continues to Evansville, Toledo, Reading and Elmira. The Blades lead Reading in the standings by three points.

The Blades conquered the Warriors 4-2 Saturday night after shutting them out 3-0 on Friday. Adam Brace scored twice in the latest victory, with goals also contributed by Gabriel Desjardins and Alex Lavoie. Goaltender Daniel Altshuller stopped 28 of the 30 shots he faced.

“This was like a playoff series for us,” said Blades coach Greg Poss. “It puts some separation between us and them in terms of playoff standing which is important.”
