Everblades blank Warriors 4-0
GREENVILLE, S.C. – Newcomer Anthony Peters stopped all 32 shots faced to record a shutout in his professional debut to lead the Florida Everblades to a 4-0 victory over the Greenville Road Warriors Saturday night.
The Everblades grabbed the lead halfway through the second period. Adam Brace rushed into the zone on the left wing side and delivered a pass across the ice to Mike Little at the top of the right wing circle. Little cruised toward the net and wristed a shot that beat Greenville goaltender Jason Missiaen for the game’s first goal.
Florida added to its lead at 1:56 of the third on the power play. Jesse Graham blasted a slapshot that was tripped and redirected into the net by Brant Harris at the top of the crease to give the Everblades a 2-0 edge.
Just 42 seconds later, Alex Lavoie charged into the zone on the right wing and snapped a shot that clipped over the shoulder of Missiaen to extend the Florida lead to 3-0.
Goaltender Anthony Peters took care of the rest in his pro debut, as he turned aside every shot and scoring chance Greenville threw his way,which included several breakaway opportunities by Josh Nicholls.
The Everblades tacked on an empty net goal from Jason Wilson in the closing minutes, and put forth a gritty effort of shot blocking and smart passes to help Peters preserve the 4-0 shutout win.
The rookie out of Saint Mary’s University stopped all 32 shots in the game to earn the win his debut. Missiaen takes the loss allowing three goals on 29 shots.
The Everblades will close out the three-game road trip on Sunday afternoon in Duluth, Georgia as they battle the Gwinnett Gladiators. Game time is set for 2:05 p.m.
