Gators down Bulldogs 5-1

Miguel Vidal and David Mata drove in two runs apiece with two hits each Friday night to lead Island Coast to a 5-1 victory over Ida Baker.

Anthony Churlin and Hank Owens each contributed two hits apiece, including a double, spark the Gators.

“We played our best game of the season tonight,” said Gators coach Clint Montgomery. “It was definitely our best offensive game of the season.”

The effort handed Owens (2-0) the victory on the mound, allowing three hits over seven inning with seven strikeouts. Bryce VanHorn took the loss.

The Gators (4-4) play at Lemon Bay on Tuesday. The Bulldogs (9-2) play at Mariner on Wednesday.

Lely 4, Mariner 3: Steven Grigiski had two hits and drive in a run Friday in Mariner’s loss at Lely.

Andrew Arsenault (1-1) absorbed the loss tossing five innings while allowing one earned run while striking out six.

The Tritons led 2-0 through five innings only to see Lely score four in the fifth to seal the win.

The Tritons (5-5) play at Immokalee on Tuesday.

Oasis 14, Everglades City 0: Keaton Bailey collected three base hits Friday to help spark Oasis to a five-inning victory at Everglades City.

Baylee Smith, Kevin Newton and Kristian Velando each contributed two hits. Valence drove in three runs and Newton two. Newton (1-0) also earned the pitching decision.

Brandon McCaslin doubled among the Sharks’ 13 base hits. The Sharks score six runs in the first and four in the third to seal the victory.

The Sharks (8-2) host Imagine on Monday.

Cape Coral 10, Immokalee 1: Josh Feliciano (3-0) pitched a no-hitter for three innings while striking out two to propel Cape Coral’s shutout victory at Immokalee on Friday.

Bailey Wilson, Shane McClanahan and Kyle Arjona contributed two hits apiece toward the victory, including doubles. The Seahawks scored two runs in the fifth and three in the sixth to open the final gap.

The Seahawks (9-2) play at Golden Gate on Tuesday.

Softball

Oasis 19, Everglades City 2: Maddie Winters and Daria Aho drove in two runs apiece Friday to lead Oasis to victory over Everglades City.

Winters collected three hits and Aho homered to lead the Sharks. Katie O’Connor and Torri Gonring each contributed two hits to the cause.

The Sharks (5-8) play at Bishop Verot on Tuesday.

North Fort Myers 1, Venice 0: Melinda Thirion tripled in the seventh inning to set the table for Marion Reed’s scarified bunt that drove in the game-winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning withy one out Friday night.

Katelyn Kelly had three hits for the Red Knights (9-1), who host Bishop Verot on Monday.

Lely 22, Mariner 0: Amanda Myers’ single with two our in the third inning broke up a no-hitter in Mariner’s lopsided loss Friday at Lely.

Abby Love (0-3) surrendered 10 runs in the first inning and 12 more in the second to absorb the loss.

The Tritons ( 3-8) play at Immokalee on Tuesday.
