Seahawks tag Green Wave 10-2
Jose Valmana only struck out three batters, but Cape Coral banged out seven base hits and scored six runs in the second inning Thursday night to spank Fort Myers 10-2.
Winning pitcher Jose Valmana (1-0) struck out three and allowed just four hits to earn the win for the Seahawks. P.J. Carse delivered two hits and drove in two runs to lead the Seahawks while Terry Tates drove in a run ad Kyle Arjona added a base hit in the victory.
The Seahawks (6-1) host Lely on Friday.
Softball
Bishop Verot 9, Barron Collier 4: Jennie Boisvert drove in three runs while two teammates each delivered two RBI to carry Bishop Verot past Barron Collier in nine innings Thursday night.
Boisvert collected four base hits, including three doubles and scored two runs for the Vikings. Jessy McLean had three hits, including a double, while Erin Kyle added a pair of hits, including a two-run home run. Nicole Rodriguez (4-0) struck out 11 over nine innings to earn the win
The Vikings (7-1) travel to No. 6 ranked Tampa Catholic on Friday.
Oasis 19, Island Coast 8: Katie O’Connor and Kaylee Morfis drove in three runs with two hits apiece Thursday night to lead Oasis to victory over Island Coast.
A.J. Hickel also contributed a pair of hits and scored two runs to back winning pitcher Abby Bryant. The Sharks (3-7) play Tuesday at Gateway Charter.
